About Ishraque

Laying out my professional expertise and sports journey for everyone to read, understand learn from and be inspired.

Ishraque J. Gulrays is an ex-All India ranked lawn tennis player. He actively played lawn tennis at the National and International level from the year 1992 – 2000. His achievements in lawn tennis have brought in many laurels and trophies to his school, college and himself. With apt professional guidance and his perseverance, he managed to achieve a nationwide recognition. At the junior level, he has been one of the most recognized and known lawn tennis players in India. He was the Captain of the Mithibai College Team, Vice-Captain of the Mumbai University Tennis Team. In his professional journey he has successfully executed the following roles:

1) Head of the Department – Sports at Goregaon Sports Club

2) Head of operations – Millennium Sports Management Pvt Ltd

3) The Initiator (Owner & Founder) Sportnicians – The Sports People

4) Speaker on various Sports Management, Educational Institutes and other platforms

Professional Experience

Head of Department- Sports

Responsible for overall development of sports in all the existing sports areas and create new sports facilities.
Restructure existing rules and regulations in sports and health club facilities.
Identify (existing/new) coaches for basic and advanced coaching in the sports facilities.
Fix a target for creating national/international level players in the sports facilities who would represent the club.
Prepare annual sports budget for indoor/outdoor sports, health club and swimming pool.
Responsible to conduct tournament for the club at different levels and in different faculties.
Co-ordinate with the Government of Maharashtra and Government of India to get recognition, funds procurement as per their policies and schemes in sports faculties.
Maintain records of various events that take place at the club and submit exhaustive summary report of the same so as to identify talents of the area.
Responsible for organizing sports camps at regular intervals like Diwali/Summer/Christmas vacations etc.
Encourage bookings by Corporate/Educational Institutions of sports faculties for utilization and also to increase revenue of the club.
Overall in-charge of the development of the sports ground, all indoor/outdoor sports activities, swimming pool and health club.

Head of Operations at Millennium Sports Management Pvt Ltd

Identify the opportunities to set up indoor and outdoor clubs under the brand umbrella of Millennium Sports.
Design and develop sports facilities (layouts, infrastructure, equipment etc).
Ensure safety and upkeep of all the premises run by Millennium Sports.
Design and implement processes to run the indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
Design various club membership programs.
Develop strategy for marketing membership programs.
Develop professional coaching academies for variety of sports (to be run at company-owned premises as well as outside).
Responsible for enrollments and admissions.
Develop Millennium Sports branded teams for various sports and compete in the open tournaments to create reputation in the market.
Design and execute strategy to take the teams to the highest levels.
Conceptualize, market and execute various sports events such as-

Professional events in association with concerned sports authorities (local, state and national).
Commercial events such as corporate tournaments.
New concepts of professional leagues.
School-level tournaments.
Other entertainment-based sports events for all (family Olympics, marathons etc).
Seasonal camps (such as summer camps, off-site retreats etc).

Business Development and Acquisition

Was in talks with Sporty Beans in which Yuvraj Singh is an investor, to run their franchise.
Was in talks with Cricket Australia wherein we would collaborate with them to run their program.
Was in talks with ProsSports Fitness, a Zaheer Khan Venture
Was in talks with Future Group to implement our Corporate Wellness Program for their employee.
Handling Sales and Marketing strategies of the company.
Handled our Sports Retail Store planning, execution and profitability.
I also handled collaborations with Schools, Colleges and Corporates.
Recruit the right talent to run various coaching programs and sports events as well as manage the sports infrastructure.
Identify and build relationships with variety of branded sports related companies (from abroad as well as in India).
Create, market and run “Corporate Wellness Program”.
